If you take medication on a long-term basis, requests for prescriptions will be accepted in writing, in person at the surgery, by post or online via the link at the top of this page (you will need a photographic ID to access this service. If you do not have one please enquire at reception).

If your prescription is to be returned to you by post, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Please allow 2 working days for all repeat prescriptions to be processed.

Please note: We no longer accept repeat prescription requests by telephone. Please email your request to tunstall.primarycare@stoke.nhs.uk or speak to your nominated pharmacy to arrange for them to order for you.

Do take regular medication?

Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) allows your GP to prescribe your regular medicines for up to a year.

You could save unnecessary trips to the surgery by switching to eRD, it’s reliable, secure and confidential.

You don't need a computer or electronic device. Ask the GP or our Practice Pharmacist today.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.90
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £114.50
• 3-month PPC: £32.05

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
